What will I learn?
After covering the basics about the nail industry, your tools and products you will learn everything you need to become a qualified Nail Technician, including full sets, sculptured nails and toenail, sanitize and disinfection procedures, manicures and pedicures, retailing and more.

Is it necessary to attend every class?
100% attendance is required; if you miss a module you may complete that module in the next available class otherwise at the cost of $145 + GST per module to be arranged with your tutor.

What are my employment options?
There are many different options available in where you work and how much you earn.
• You can work at a nail spa and be paid either an hourly rate of between $12.50 - $15 P.A plus commission on sales.
• Straight commission usually on a 45% split with a salon owner. This means you would be contracting and paying your own tax etc.
• Rent a space in a salon for $100 - $200 per week. This is the same as being self employed.
• Set up your own business.
• Work on a cruise ship.
• Become an educator.
• Become a sales rep within the beauty industry.

How much would I expect to get paid?
Your income will vary according to which career option you take. You can go form $10 - $50 per hour on average.

For example:
70% of our business is made from backfilling. (Backfilling is where we replace new acrylic on new nail growth.)
Your level of experience will always be rewarding. There is a desperate lack of good nail technicians out there and lots of money to be made.

Is there an age restriction?
Absolutely not! You can be any age to join this course. Am I guaranteed employment? There is a desperate lack of nail technicians out there and lots of money to be made. You only need to try to make an appointment or check situations vacant to realise that once you have completed a Tammy Taylor Nails Course, you and you new skills will always be in high demand. We of course do our best to assist you.

What happens after I complete this course?
Whether you are setting up your own business or seeking employment we will do our best to assist you. Business set up kits are available to you on completion of your course. This includes everything for the nail professional

How many students in a class?
There are between 6 – 9 students in each class.

Who do I call if I have any problems during or after the training?
At American Nail Systems you will actually get your own personal educator to assist you with everything from trouble shooting techniques to creative ways to making money. Our educators are available to you on an ongoing basis and look forward to assisting you in any way possible.

How long does my certificate last for?
Your certificate itself has no expiry; however you must be recertified each year.

Do I need any qualifications to do this course?
We have trained people from the ages of 15 onwards. All you need to be able to do is read and write!

What happens if I don’t pass the exam?
If you don’t pass the exam the first time round, then you’ll need to practice more in your own time thin sit the exam when you feel your up to scratch.

Why do I need models?
To a large degree you will be practicing on you sheet and on other class members. You will need to provide models for some modules but you will be advised before hand.

Why does the course run for 5 ½ weeks?
70% of your business will be backfilling (backfilling is where we replace new acrylic on new nail growth) in running the course over this length of time, unlike many short courses enables you to gain the skills you need in backfilling, the bread and butter of you new career. You could not cover this subject in less time.

Is there a time limit to complete a course?
Courses are to be completed within 3 months

Can I get a student loan?
We do not provide student loans as we are a private learning centre.
